Site cut & fill across Berwick & Casey.
Strip the topsoil. Cut the high side. Batter the cut face. Build the low side up as engineered fill, 100mm lifts, compacted to 95% standard maximum dry density. Lime stabilisation on reactive clay where the sub-grade needs it. Compaction tested. Documented. Done right.
What a proper Casey site cut and fill looks like.
The seven stages.
- Topsoil strip: 200–300mm of topsoil stripped and stockpiled. Reused on landscape or carted off — your call.
- Set out: peg the pad corners, the cut/fill line, the batter angles. Surveyed where the engineer specs that.
- Cut: remove material from the high side of the block to the slab-level datum. Batter the cut face to a stable slope (1:1 sandy, 1:0.75 stiff clay).
- Sub-grade test: hand-test or nuclear densometer the exposed sub-grade. Lime-stabilise if shear strength is too low — standard practice on the Endeavour Hills / Hampton Park / Hallam reactive-clay belt.
- Fill: deposit cut material on the low side as engineered fill. 100mm loose lifts. Compact each lift to 95% SMDD before the next. Watercart adjusts moisture content to optimum.
- Final trim: precision-trim the slab-level surface and the driveway sub-base interface. Edges crisp, levels accurate to ±15mm.
- Hand-over: compaction test results, dump dockets, photos, AS 3798 sign-off where applicable, into your handover folder.
Equipment we bring.
- Bobcat S-series skid steer — topsoil strip, fine grading, tight pad work

- Tippers (6-wheel and 8-wheel) — spoil cart-away, fill material delivery
- Vibratory smooth-drum roller — compaction on each lift
- Watercart — moisture conditioning, dust suppression
- Nuclear densometer — compaction testing on civil and engineered sites
